Letter from the President

These are exciting times at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with no shortage of upcoming fun events and volunteer opportunities to participate in over the coming months.

It was fantastic to receive 8 new members last Sunday and there was a nice meet-and-greet reception for them between services for us to introduce ourselves and get to know each other.  I hope you were able to be there.

We have VBS (Vacation Bible School) just around the corner on August 7th to 11th.  Even if you don’t have a lot of time to commit to volunteering make sure you just stop by for an evening to see the kids and join in a game or two.  It’s always great to see young kids getting excited about Jesus and how he fits into their world.

We’re going to have a “Spring Cleaning” work party on August 5th so our church campus can look bright and shiny for VBS and for all the visitors that will be in and around the church.  We currently have a team of ladies who are cleaning and sorting in the nursery so that it will be available during that week as well as during services and other events at the church.  Stop by one of the next 2 Saturday mornings if you want to help.

A few other events that you will want to get on your calendar include the following:

Sept. 16th – Planning Event – Bring your ideas for ORLC’s future.

Sept 17th – Combined Service with Talent Show and Chili Cook-off to follow.

Oct. 15th – Annual Church Picnic at Ski Beach.

Nov.18th – Bingo and Brats (Brought back by popular demand)

Dec. 9th – Christmas Village (All hands on deck to support Cheyenne on this event)

As I promised there is no shortage of great opportunities to invite friends to and to get to know your fellow members.  It will be you who benefits from the opportunity.

We also have upcoming Congregational Meetings to put on your calendar on these dates:

October 22nd – Church Council nominations and presentation of proposed 2024 Budget.

November 19th.  Church Council elections and approval of 2024 Budget.

If you are interested in learning more about the volunteer positions and opportunities on the Church Council, please reach out to me or another council member to find out about the positions and how much fun you may be missing out on. We really do have a good time at the meetings with a great bunch of people.

God Bless.
