I love the month of February; it is Black History Month, Chinese New Year, there is Groundhog Day, Presidents Day and of course Valentine’s Day!! I love giving my kids treats on Valentine’s Day. I make them little piles of glitter, stickers, a heart-shaped cookie. A tradition my Mom had was to give us small treats. We also would get red envelopes on Chinese New Year filled with chocolate coins. I was very lucky to have these traditions with her. She passed away when I was 17 years old. She also attended Our Redeemer most of her whole life. I use to sit in these pews and scribble on the bulletins as a child. I waited patiently during service for the pink chewing gum to be passed out lovingly by my Mom. I pass on these traditions to my children now. I’m thankful for our church and it's traditions. I love our beautiful stain glass window. Underneath it is where Pastor Dave married me when I was 25 to David who was 26 (almost 19 years ago). All of these things, Valentines included, remind me of how much love people have. And how much love God has for us. So I hope you feel that love all month long and after Happy Valentine’s Day!!
